Crowns & Bridges

Crowns and Bridges provided by Powell Dentists Dr. Edwin Guion and Dr. Todd Klein are helping their patients to smile again with the confidence and satisfaction of knowing that they are looking their best!
A dental crown may be necessary if a large portion of a tooth is broken away, chipped or decayed. A crown fits over the entire tooth, restoring it to full strength and function. It will look completely natural and feel as comfortable as your own tooth.
The process typically takes 2 visits. Preparing for the crown involves removing some of the outer surface and leaving the inner core of the tooth or teeth. Impressions will be made that the lab will use to craft your new tooth. Meticulous attention is given to look and fit ensuring the proper and comfortable function of your bite. This attention to detail makes the difference between an "adequate" restoration and one that is perfectly fitted for your needs. We can even create a crown and dental veneer for the same tooth if one of your front teeth is affected; giving you back a beautiful, natural smile. On your second visit, your permanent crown will be applied and fitted.
We take a very gentle approach to treatment and will make sure you are comfortable throughout the entire process. We use a combination of topical and local anesthetics to manage comfort as needed, and will proceed at a pace that is comfortable for you.
Bridges can fill the gap left by one or more missing teeth. It typically requires two crowns, one on either side of the space where the tooth is missing, and the replacement tooth or teeth. A bridge is important to your dental health and overall well-being. When you don't fill the gap left by missing teeth, your teeth can shift or migrate out of position. Even your underlying supportive bone structure can deteriorate. Chewing and eating can be uncomfortable and this imbalance can cause jaw alignment problems.
Replacing missing teeth with crowns and bridges gives you back the full function of your teeth, allowing you to eat and chew comfortably again as well as restoring your beautiful smile. A fixed bridge that is stabilized by supportive crowns is very sturdy and secure, and functions like your own natural teeth. The materials used to create your crowns and bridges is not only durable, but also able to perfectly mimic the color and texture of your own teeth, creating a very natural smile.
"Patients tell us that they came to us hating their smile, because they have a tooth that had been broken beyond repair and needed to be removed. But now that their new bridge is in place, they actually feel like smiling again." - Powell Dentists Dr. Guion and Dr. Klein
